We are seeking a Business Development Director to lead sales in a company offering a variety of laboratory services life sciences companies. The BD Director will play a crucial role in the team, responsible for generating the company's revenue and increasing profitability across laboratory, analytical, formulation, and other industrial services. Our client offers an extensive range of services in the pharmaceutical industry, medical devices, cosmetics, food and dietary supplements, and related sectors.

Duties
  • Strategy setting to move the organisation toward specific goals, especially revenue, profitability and business development. Propose and implement actions to improve the effectiveness of the sales department.
  • Negotiate agreements and contracts with clients.
  • Management of relationships with key customers/accounts – both business and academic partners.
  • Develop and maintain related budgets – sales targets and sales department budget on annual basis. Measure the profitability of the sales department and laboratories versus contracted projects. Review and Improve the calculation of project/contract profitability and resource assessment.
  • Identify new markets and business opportunities. Develop new businesses.
  • Define and deliver quarterly and annual KPI’s for the Sales Department.
  • Management of the sales department – coaching and mentoring of sales team.
  • Building brand awareness within desired industries and market areas.
  • Attend industry events/trade fairs/conferences to maximize business opportunities, develop the right relationships, and network.
Required skills
  • University degree in Life Sciences education or business / economy.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience and knowledge in sales of services for pharma/cosmetics/food and related industries.
  • Strong experience in team management (min. 5 years).
  • Strong knowledge of sales methods, KPI’s setting, sales strategies.
  • Strong industry knowledge: services for pharma, cosmetics, food or environmental industry.
  • Analytical thinking.
