Senior Scientist – Antibiotic Stability
Location: Poland
Together with an innovative medtech company, based in Poland, we are looking for an established scientist, with a unique skillset and experience in antibiotic stability and antimicrobial resistance.
The employee will be a key part of the team, responsible for the development of new products for antimicrobial susceptibility testing and a vital member of the team of chemists, microbiologists and engineers.
Our Client is looking to strengthen their expertise by bringing in a person able to generate and implement knowledge about specific formulations of antibiotics, and manufacturing processes.
Duties
• Planning, management and development of the composition and formulation processes of antibiotics, ensuring their long-term stability in disposable diagnostic cards, conceptualising, planning, setting up and executing relevant experiments in the lab,
• creating a risks list related to the stability of formulation and proposition of experiments package to check if those risks will occur, eventually propose the prevention methods,
• development of methods for monitoring the activity of formulated antibiotics, the ability to work with small amounts of antibiotics, and innovative formulation methods: new ways of releasing active ingredients, prolonged/slow release, release from a polymeric matrix, and mixing different materials (different mechanisms) to improve the release curve,
• analysis of professional literature to develop the composition and selection of excipients and active forms,
• developing and maintaining laboratory documentation in accordance with applicable procedures and standards, including ISO 13485,
Required skills
• Scientific background, preferably in chemistry or biochemistry.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience and knowledge in antibiotic stability research and studies, including proficiency in stability testing methodologies and interpretation of results.
• Previous experience in the in-vitro diagnostics industry.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical excipients and their roles in formulation development, demonstrating an understanding of their impact on final product stability and performance.
• Strong knowledge and experience in analytical methods – qualitative and quantitative, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, IR or VIS spectroscopy (some analyses are done in-house, some are outsourced, forms: solid and fluid). Understanding data and data analysis is crucial for this position.
• Ability to communicate with people from different scientific and business backgrounds.
