Animal Research Facility Manager

 

­­­Location: Poland, Wroclaw

 

Together with a leading Polish Research Institution, we are looking for an experienced Animal Research Facility Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and overall management of laboratory animal care personnel and the animal facility, including procurement of animals for research, supervision of animal laboratory technicians, control of animal holding facilities and ensuring proper veterinary care for the animals.

Key responsibilities:
  • Work in the Animal Research Facility following applicable regulations and internal and external standards, implementing and evaluating new procedures, monitoring experiments,
  • Ensuring that the conditions vital to the well-being of animals are continuously met,
  • Team management, supervision of animal laboratory technicians and other personnel,
  • Coordinating ordering and receving animals, keeping records, ensuring that procurement measures are met,
  • Management of the Animal Research Facility funds and the costs optimalisation.
Required skills:
  • Higher education in veterinary medicine, animal science, biology or a related field,
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and legal guidelines regarding the running of an Animal House,
  • Knowledge of the biology of animal species used for scientific and educational purposes,
  • At least 2 years of experience in a position related to caring for animals,
  • Completion of training for caretakers for animals kept in the Center and training for people euthanizing animals used in procedures,
  • Authorisation to supervise lab animal technicians, confirmed by a certificate (POLLASA training or similar desired),
  • Proven experience in team management,
  • Good command of English.
